Operation Christmas Joy-Panama Mission Sponsored, in part, by the Church of Christ of Aberdeen

October 19, 2011

About 200 gift boxes, plus school supplies with backpacks, at least 40 little girl's dresses sewn by the ladies of the congregation, and medical supplies are being shipped from the Church of Christ, 90 Mount Royal Avenue in Aberdeen, to Panama.

These gifts and supplies will be added to shipping containers that will have additional gifts from other Churches of Christ to enable the children of Panama to enjoy Christmas. Panama Mission is associated with the Churches of Christ, and overseen by the Childersburg, Ala., congregation. Besides Operation Christmas Joy, Panama Missions have established a medical clinic in Panama and have adopted and moved three small villages because of the severe flooding.

Food and supplies are being supplied to the villages because they will not be able to harvest a crop for a year.

Larry Brady, director of Panama Missions, was the guest speaker Oct. 16 at the Church of Christ in Aberdeen.
