Boys volleyball: Havre de Grace stays unbeaten

North Harford tops CMW, Tech nips Pmill

The unbeaten Havre de Grace boys volleyball team kept its perfect record untarnished on Monday, as the Warriors downed the visiting Fallston Cougars in three straight games.

The Warriors topped their guests 25-18, 25-23 and 25-21.

David Beck had 21 kills, six digs and six aces in the victory. Tyler Cook put up 25 assists, five digs and two kills for Havre de Grace, while teammate Tony Cofrancesco had six kills, seven digs and two aces. Steve Ashman had two aces, two kills, and team-high totals of 14 digs and two bocks. Sean Darney had four digs in the victory, while teammate Sebastian Pruitt had five digs, one block and one ace.

Hawks top Mustangs

The North Harford boys beat the visiting C. Milton Wright boys volleyball team on Monday, 3-1.

The Mustangs took the first game, but the hosts stormed back to take the next three by scores of 25-17, 25-13 and 25-19.

Josh Weimann led the way for the Hawks with 15 kills and eight aces, while teammate Austin Russell posted 10 kills and nine assists. Alden Jones had seven kills and four aces in the victory, while Brock Hurley registered six kills and four blocks. Tyler Demski had a team-high 12 assists, and Travis Chicknoski had eight aces.

CMW's Justin Pezella notched 16 service points, 30 assists, four aces, one block and two digs in the loss.

"Overall, the Hawks did a fine job of staying with their game plan of soft touch volleyball," CMW head coach Rich Moyers said. "While it wasn't the action-packed tempo that you typically [see], it worked quite well. They showed poise and focus on pitching their strengths against what was frustrating us."

Harford Tech over Patterson Mill

The Harford Tech Cobras won at home on Monday, beating the Patterson Mill boys 3-1.

The hosts won the first matchup 25-13, dropped the second 25-23, then closed things out with wins of 25-14 and 25-22.

Nick Waite led the winners with 12 kills, five blocks and five aces, while Zack Valenti contributed eight kills, three blocks and two aces. Thane Hash scratched out nine kills and five blocks in the victory, while Brady Vickers netted 20 assists, two blocks and a pair of aces. Sean Paulsen put up four assists, two blocks and one kill for the Cobras.
