Concert series

The Unitarian Universalist Chalice Concert Series will present a piano recital to celebrate the 200th birthday of composer Franz Liszt at 8 p.m. Nov. 5 at the Owen Brown Interfaith Center, 7246 Cradlerock Way. Regional and international pianists will join artistic director Michael Adcock in a program highlighting Liszt's musical contributions. "Genie Oblige: The Musical Legacy of Franz Liszt" precedes the recital at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $20, $15 for students, free for children younger than 15 with a paying adult. Kids show

Fitness at Slayton House

A six-week session of Bare Fusion fitness classes will be held Mondays through Wednesdays through Nov. 21 at Slayton House, 10400 Cross Fox Lane. Classes include ballet-inspired movements, interval training, Pilates and isometric moves to strengthen, lengthen and stretch muscles. Participants should bring a mat, socks and water. 'Once on this Island'

Red Branch Theatre Company presents this Caribbean adaptation of "The Little Mermaid" through Saturday, Oct. 29, at the Drama Learning Center, 9130-I Red Branch Road in Columbia. English conversation The Howard County Public Library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, offers "Let's Get Together: English Conversation Club." It's a chance for those for whom English is a second language to practice speaking and understanding English in a group setting. The club meets at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.
