'The Witches: A Tribute to Roald Dahl' The Children's Theatre of Annapolis presents this play about how a boy and his grandmother defeat a witch and her followers, who are holding a conference in a seaside hotel. Oyster Festival The West River Heritage Day Oyster Festival, featuring music, food, children's activities and more, will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Captain Salem Avery House Museum, 1418 E. West Shady Side Road. Featured musical performers include Tim and Savannah Finch, the Eastman String Band, Janie Meneely & Paul Di Blasi, Calico Jack, the Sour Notes and the Coastal Flats. Gospel concert The Virginia Baptist Male Chorale performs at 7 p.m. at Heritage Baptist Church, 1740 Forest Drive in Annapolis. The choral group, founded in 1963, consists of men who are music ministers in Virginia Baptist churches. Reception with refreshments follows. Admission is free. Artist reception The Eastport Yacht Club hosts a reception for Bill Jaeger from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at 317 First St. in Annapolis. Jaeger is the artist who designed the poster for the 2011 Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade, which will be unveiled at the event. 'Blessing of the Pets' A blessing and thanksgiving for pets will be held at 3:30 p.m. on the front lawn of Galilee Lutheran Church, 4652 Mountain Road in Pasadena. A short service using scripture, song and prayer will conclude with the individual blessing of animals. Compost talk Anne Arundel County Master Gardeners will hold a composting demonstration and native plant garden visit at 10 a.m. at Quiet Waters Park, 600 Quiet Waters Park Road in Annapolis.
