Maryland-Georgia Tech pregame notes

Terps will be wary of Tech's first offensive play

October 08, 2011

Maryland-Georgia Tech notes:

*Beautiful, sunny day at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Bit of a gusty wind. Not many people in the stadium yet. Tech coach Paul Johnson appealed to fans to come out and be loud. A crowd of about 44,000 is expected by the locals.

*Kenny Tate was on the field warming up but that doesn't mean for sure he will play. I'm told backup Mario Rowson will start but that Tate is still expected to be available. The Maryland linebacker was listed as "doubtful" by the school. Maryland won't describe the nature of the injury for what it says are competitive reasons. The school did say it was a physical injury and not some sort of team rules violation.

*Since the Yellow Jackets have scored on their first offensive play three times this season, does it qualify as a victory for the Terps if Georgia Tech doesn't take it to the hizzy the first time it lays claim to the ball?
