The Class of 2011 of the Havre de Grace High School Hall of Fame… (Bobby Parker for The Record,…)
The second class of the Havre de Grace High School Hall of Fame was inducted Friday morning during a ceremony and assembly in the school's auditorium.
All four living inductees attended, as did members of their families. Two deceased inductees were represented by their sons and other family members.
Students presented each inductee after giving a brief summary of the inductee's background and accomplishments. Music was presented by the HHS Jazz Ensemble and the HHS Chamber Singers. Hall of Fame Chairman Rick Hauf gave welcoming remarks. Principal Pat Walling gave closing remarks.
Inducted into the HHS Hall of Fame were Dr. Rose Mary Hatem Bonsack of the Class of 1951, the late Dr. Frederick J. Hatem of the Class of 1943; Harry S. Johnson of the Class of 1972; Robert L. Johnson of the Class of 1944, the late George D. Lisby of the Class of 1949 of Havre de Grace Colored High School and Madelyn Shank of the Class of 1945.
Dr. Hatem's son, Fred Hatem, received his late father's honor. Mr. Lisby's son, Ricky Lisby, received his late father's honor. Mr. Lisby's widow, Victoria Lisby, also attended.
Following the assembly, each inductee's photograph was hung on the Hall of Fame Wall inside the school. A luncheon assembly catered by MacGregor's Restaurant of Havre de Grace was held inside the school media center.
The new HHS Hall of Fame members were also due to be recognized at Friday night's homecoming football game.
The Havre de Grace High School Hall of Fame was established in 2010. The first class of six members was inducted during last year's homecoming celebration.
