Girls volleyball: Fallston, Edgewood prevail

Bel Air, Aberdeen falter

The North Harford Hawks girls volleyball team defeated host Joppatowne 3-0 Wednesday night in an UCBAC Susquehanna Division match. The scores were 25-16, 25-19 and 25-19.

Emily Cunningham led the way with five aces, nine kills and two blocks, while Sam Pappas added two kills. Julua Berg added four aces and two kills and Syd Billings had two aces.

In Tuesday's girls volleyball action, Harford's girls volleyball teams were 2-2 against opponents from Cecil County, with Fallston and Edgewood posting wins, while Bel Air and Aberdeen faltered at the net.

Fallston's girls volleyball squad earned a victory on its home court, defeating the visiting Elkton Golden Elks in three straight games.

The Cougars' winning scores were 25-8, 25-11 and 25-19.

Rachael Holehouse led the Cougars with a 13-kill performance, while Emily Letke came through with 17 assists. Ann Holehouse had 19 digs in the win, and teammate Isabel Braun had 14 service points.

Rams wing Eagles

The Edgewood Rams held off a late charge from the visiting Bo Manor Eagles Tuesday night, eventually beating their hosts 3-2.

Edgewood won the first two games 25-21 and 26-24, but Bo Manor evened the contest 2-2 by taking the next two matchups, 25-20 and 25-21. Edgewood was able to lock down the match in the deciding game with a 15-7 victory.

Alexis Goldston had nine aces and nine kills in the victory, while teammate Kelsey Swann had nine aces and a team-best 18 assists. Lauren Brown served up nine aces and posted seven kills, while Alicia Grant had six aces for Edgewood.

Bel Air nipped by North East

The Bel Air Bobcats lost Tuesday to the visiting North East Indians.

Bel Air, which lost the first two contests 25-22 and 25-21, bounced back to win the third match, 25-20. North East wrapped up the match with a tight, 25-23 win in the fourth game.

Celeste Roland had 10 kills, eight aces and six digs in the loss, while fellow Bobcat Alex Williams put up eight kills and three aces. Jackie Deluise posted six kills and three digs, while teammate Tia Williams was credited with six kills and one ace. Amanda Rodriguez had five kills and a team best 22 assists for Bel Air, while Kaila Gonzalez notched four kills, and Conseulo Ezcurra led the Bobcats with nine digs.

Perryville trumps Aberdeen

The Aberdeen girls suffered a shutout loss Tuesday, losing 3-0 to the host-team Perryville Panthers.

Perryville took its three victories by scores of 26-24, 25-20 and 26-24.

The Panthers' Raven Hughey had four kills, five digs, five service pints and a pair of aces. Nori Elliot helped the winning cause with seven assists, two aces, one kill and six service points. Sam Kreiner posted three kills, five digs and one ace in the victory, while Kayla Tome notched 17 service points, four aces and three digs. Mycalah Bryant posted six service points, four aces, two digs and two assists for Perryville, while Emily Merklinger had four kills and three blocks. Ange Thompson put up three kills, one assist and one ace for the Panthers, while Morgan Tennant had four assists and one kill.
