Man, 32, killed in city's Upton neighborhood

A 32-year-old man was found fatally shot early Monday in the Central District's Upton neighborhood, police said.

An officer on routine patrol saw a man lying in the middle of the 500 block of McMechen Street at about 12:25 a.m., police said. The man, later identified as Anton Ingram, was taken to Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he was pronounced dead at 3:18 a.m.

Ingram had been shot in the back, and police said they had received 911 calls reporting a shooting in that area. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide detectives at 410-396-2100.
