A senior at Carver Vocational-Technical High School was arrested Monday afternoon after officers determined that he was carrying a handgun, according to a news release from the Baltimore City Public Schools.

The student, who was not named in the release, was charged as an adult with possession of a deadly weapon, officials said. In additional to criminal charges, he could be expelled permanently.

Officers searched the senior after receiving a tip "from a concerned citizen," schools police said. School spokeswoman Edie House had no additional information about the incident.
