Cheap theater, free museums and performances: Cheap Trick Thursday

September 22, 2011|Liz F. Kay

Here are a few reminders for ways to gorge yourself on cultural experiences without blowing your entertainment budget.

Sat., Sept. 24 is the Smithsonian's Museum Day, with free admission at institutions all across the country. Go to the Museum Day website to get tickets to the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore, Ladew Topiary Gardens in Monkton and many others.

Then, starting Mon., Sept. 26 theater fans ages 21 to 34 can sign up for a CenterStage GO Pass. For the price of one $38 ticket (what you would normally pay to attend one show) the young people will be able to get tickets to shows all season. Clef Notes blogger Tim Smith has all the GO Pass details over at his blog. These passes are only available through Sept. 30, so act fast.

Tim's also got info about discounted three-show subscription packs even if you're not in the targeted age group, so don't feel left out.

And everyone can enjoy free performances via Free Fall Baltimore. With more than 200 free events that include art, live musical performances, dance and theater, there's sure to be something for everyone.
