A man was shot and wounded in the buttocks Friday morning just off North Avenue in East Baltimore, but is expected to recover, Baltimore police reported.

Police said a 25-year-old man approached an officer walking foot patrol in the 2400 block of North Ave. and reported he had been shot. The victim was taken to a local hospital, where he was expected to recover.

A preliminary investigation showed that the man had been walking in the 1900 block of North Collington Ave. about 10:30 a.m. when he was approached by two black males wearing black hooded sweat shirts, police said. After one of the two began firing, the victim ran away and told the officer he had been struck.

Police are asking individuals with information about the shooting to contact them at 410-396-2433.
