BikeAbout The Columbia Association's 11th annual BikeAbout and Town Center walking tour will be held at the Downtown Columbia Lakefront. Participants may begin the ride any time between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.; the walking tour begins at 10:30 a.m. This year's event will take riders through Town Center, Wilde Lake, Harper's Choice and Hickory Ridge, highlighting history in Harper's Choice and the Middle Patuxent Valley and traversing some of the most picturesque pathways in Hobbit's Glen and Clary's Forest. Walkers will follow a route to Oakland Mills, explore a historic cemetery and outdoor sculpture and take in the art and architecture in Town Center. Information: 410-715-3103.

Future

Book sale Shepard of the Glen Lutheran Church will hold its 16th annual Book Sale Sept. 8-10 at 14551 Burntwoods Road in Glenwood. Event features more than 20,000 books for sale, including three rooms of children's books and 1,000 antiquarian books. In addition there will be a large supply of near fine "coffee table type" books, and a large assortment of DVD's, puzzles, videos, CD's, tapes, and records. Children's books and paperbacks are priced at 50 cents and hardbacks $1. The antiquarian books and a limited number of near fine books are priced higher. Hours are 3 p.m.-7 p.m. Thursday-Friday, Sept. 8-9, and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. Directions and more information: 410-489-0063 or 410-442-2475.

Memorial walk The Freestate Happy Wanderers Volksmarching Club will sponsor a "9/11 Memorial Walk" on Sept. 11 at Montpelier Mansion, 9650 Muirkirk Road in Laurel. Concert The Columbia Art Center and Little Patuxent Review presents "Seth Kibel: Klezmer Concert," at 7 p.m. Sept. 19 at 6100 Foreland Garth in Columbia. Concert is part of the free monthly salon series that both groups offer to the community featuring area artists, poets, actors, musicians, and other specialists.
