Baysox The Bowie Baysox hold a "Kids Appreciation" night as the team takes on the Erie Seawolves at 6:35 p.m. Event features a giveaway for the first 250 kids ages 3-12, will receive a Baysox jersey pillow or a bobblehead of Louie, the team's mascot, free raffles for Baysox prizes, and more. Bird walk Learn how to identify birds by sight and sound at Jug Bay Wetlands Sanctuary, 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Not appropriate for children younger than 12. Anniversary concert In celebration of its 50th anniversary season, the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra presents "Lexus Pops in the Park" at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, at Quiet Waters Park, 600 Quiet Waters Park Road in Annapolis. Beach bash The Annapolis Maritime Museum holds its annual "Boatyard Beach Bash" on Sept. 17 at the Boatyard Bar and Grill, Severn Avenue and Fourth Street, Eastport. Among the musical guests is the John Frinzi Band, along with Coral Reefer steel guitar great Doyle Grisham, Jim Morris and James "Sunny Jim" White. Tickets are $60. Benefit The National Ovarian Cancer Coalition's "5K Run/3K Walk to Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer" will take place from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at Quiet Waters Park in Annapolis. The run will be timed and awards for various age groups will be given. There will also be entertainment for adults and children and refreshments donated by local businesses. Golf tournament Hospice of the Chesapeake invites all area golfers to its annual fundraiser on Oct. 6 at Queenstown Harbor Golf Course in Queenstown. Tournament contests include an opportunity to win a Mercedes-Benz with a hole-in-one, as well as a $2,000 cash prize raffle.

Registration is $250 per person and $900 for foursomes, which includes greens fees, cart, a continental breakfast, lunch, awards banquet, contests and prizes. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Proceeds will be used to support programs and services offered by Hospice of the Chesapeake in Anne Arundel and Prince George's counties.

Festival The West River Heritage Day Oyster Festival, featuring music, food, children's activities and more, will be held from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 16 at the Captain Salem Avery Museum, 1418 E. West Shady Side Road. Featured musical performers include Tim and Savannah Finch, the Eastman String Band, Janie Meneely & Paul Di Blasi, Calico Jack, the Sour Notes, and the Coastal Flats. Admission is $6, free for children 12 and younger. Parking will be available at the nearby Shady Side ball fields with free shuttle service and handicapped parking at the museum.
