2010 Ca' Montini Terre di Valfredda Pinot Grigio

August 24, 2011

Price: $15

Serve with: Sole, shellfish

Somewhere around 95 percent of pinto grigios are neutral, boring wines that don't deserve a minutes thought. Then there are the few that make one believe this varietal does have a soul. Ca' Montini has long been one of the top producers of pinot grigio, but it's hit a new peak of elegance with this intensely focused dry white wine. There are hints of lemon, hazelnut and minerals along with subtle floral aromas – just a hint, not the whole flower shop. It's a standout.
