WESTMINSTER — The Westminster Police Department this week asked the public's assistance with its investigation of a series of gasoline thefts in the Westminster area.

Police said it had received reports of four storage shed burglaries and one theft in the western portion of the city in the Royer Road and Uniontown Road area since mid-July.

In each case, only plastic fuel containers of gasoline have been stolen.

Investigators said the crimes had all occurred during the "hours of darkness," and in several cases locks were forcibly removed to gain access.

Incidents occurred on July 15 in the 700 block of Mulligan Lane; on July 18 and July 30, both in the 600 block of Johahn Drive; and two incidents on Aug. 16 in the 800 block of Johahn Drive.

Police are asked residents to be on the lookout for suspicious activity, and call 911 or the Westminster Police Department directly at 410-848-4646.

Information may be provided anonymously at 410-857-TIPS or by sending a text message to keyword TIPWPD and the tip to 847411 (TIP411).
