Kings Contrivance prepares for Oct. 15 arrival of Corner Stable

August 16, 2011|By Richard Gorelick | The Baltimore Sun

The Howard County Alcoholic Beverage Hearing Board approved a license for the Corner Stable at its July 26 meeting. All of the permits have now been signed, and demolition began this morning on the old Michael's.

The restaurant will be in the Kings Contrivance Shopping Center location where the March 22 closing of Michael's left a void in the community. The Columbia location is the second for the Corner Stable. Best known for its ribs, the original Corner Stable has been operating on York Road in Cockeysville since 1972.

It has for the past 10 years been in the hands of Randy and Chip Reed, who will be opening the restaurant in Columbia.

Look for an opening date in Columbia of Oct. 15, Chip Reed said. "They were starting the demo this morning," he told me. "We're on our way."
