The National Merit Scholarship Corp. announced that four recent Baltimore County Public Schools graduates were among the final round of 2011 high school graduates to win scholarships sponsored by colleges and universities.

Two of the honored students are from the Towson area:

Johann Amberger, of Towson, who graduated from Towson High School. He received a National Merit Kenyon College Scholarship; and, Laura Greenbaum, of Towson, who graduated from Towson High School and wants to pursue a career in research. She received a National Merit New York University Scholarship.

The following local students recently graduated from Salisbury University:

Lutherville residents Keith Brennan, bachelor's degree in sociology; Emma Doerfler, bachelor's in history, magna cum laude; Courtney Magidson, bachelor's in elementary education; and, Michael McTeague, bachelor's degree in interdisciplinary studies.

Timonium residents Kellan Reed, bachelor's degree in management; and, Chad Reuss, bachelor's in elementary education.

Towson residents Kristen Etzel, bachelor's degree in communication arts; Adam Melfa, bachelor's in conflict analysis and dispute resolution; and Rashied Moradi, bachelor's degree in marketing.

Daniel Parks, of Cockeysville, bachelor's degree in physical education.
