Softball

Western Howard County Fever

The Western Howard County Fever 16-U girls fastpitch team finished a successful season after placing ninth in the PONY National tournament in Cary, N.C. July 24-29.

With four tournament championships, including the Memorial Day Madness in Pennsylvania, the Fever finished with an impressive 57-16 record earning berths to the PONY, USSSA and ASA tournament championships.

Working through the intense heat for most of the summer tournaments, the Fever's achievements were due to outstanding hitting, pitching and defense. Already preparing for next year, the rising juniors and seniors are looking forward to another victorious season.

Lacrosse

Heros travel

The Heros 2017 had a very successful season, completing the season as they opened it with a beach tournament victory. The 2017s opened the season by capturing the Beach Lax title in Ocean City, MD, and finished the season by winning the Jersey Shore Best of the Beach Title, in Ocean City, NJ.

The team also had a successful run at the Club National Championships, held in Boyds, MD. After winning their pool, including a 10-5 victory over MandD 2017 Black, Heros moved on to the championship playoff bracket where they lost in the final to SJS Pink.

Heros 2017 finished the summer with a 32-4 record and important memories.

Howard County Striders

Twenty-six teams participated in the Howard County Striders' recent two-person relay. Each team member alternated quarter-mile laps around the track. Results:

Sixty-six runners came out to Burleigh Manor Middle School last Wednesday to participated in the Howard County Striders' weekly series races. Ryan Hermstein and Kendra Smith won the two-mile race, while Karsten Brown and Caroline Bauer led the way in the five-miler.
