The National Weather Service was calling for Monday to be mostly sunny and hot in the Baltimore area, with a high near 99 degrees and west winds between 3 and 9 miles per hour. There is a 30 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms after 4 p.m.

The weather service has issued a hazardous weather outlook for Monday. It warns that a few storms could become severe and may have damaging wind gusts.

Monday night was expected to be mostly cloudy, with a low around 77 and northwest winds of 5 to 8 miles per hour.

Tuesday is expected to be sunny, with a high near 95 degrees and northwest winds around 10 miles per hour. Tuesday night is expected to be partly cloudy, with a low around 71 and west winds of 3 to 5 miles per hour. There is a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m.
