Letter to the Editor: Wilson Ave should not be a through street

July 28, 2011

For many years Wilson Avenue has been used as a bypass by drivers who want to avoid the traffic light and congestion (at the nearby intersection) of Putty Hill Avenue and Harford Road. Members of St. Ursula church, (located on the corner of Putty Hill Avenue and Harford Road) also continue to use Wilson Avenue as a through street to access church property.

Baltimore County's Department of Public works has stated that Wilson Avenue is a cul-de-sac, not a through street.

The current 24/7 use of Wilson Avenue as a through street is not acceptable.

I have resided at Wilson Avenue for 47 years. I think we older residents have served our time and now it is time for us to enjoy our homes by having it be used as a true a cul-de-sac, not a through street.

This will only happen if the county abides by its own laws governing cul-de-sacs and nonthrough streets.
