Two men were shot Saturday morning in separate Baltimore locations, with the first being struck in the arm during an apparent robbery attempt and the second shot in the back hours later, police said.

The first incident occurred about 2 a.m. on the 1600 block of W. Fayette Avenue, according to police, who said a stranger approached a 31-year-old man, tried to rob him, then fired a gun and ran. Police said they found the victim, who was struck in the arm, about a block away. He was "conscious and alert" and rescuers transported him to an area hospital for treatment.

The second incident followed three hours later, police said, when an adult male was shot in the back on the 400 block of S. Bouldin Street. No further information was immediately available.
