What does Felix Pie love about Baltimore? A chain restaurant

July 20, 2011|By Matt Vensel

The folks over at Sun Magazine had a cool feature in their latest issue where 100 Charm City celebrities shared what they love about Baltimore, and a handful of sports figures were among those who chimed in.

Cal Ripken Jr. predictably said his favorite thing in Baltimore was Camden Yards. Billy Cundiff likes to grab a bite to eat at Kooper’s Tavern in Fells. Domonique Foxworth thinks Harbor East is Baltimore’s Inner Harbor for non-tourists. And Jim Palmer’s favorite dish is the Veal Saltimbocca at Da Mimmo's.

And then there is Felix Pie, whose ideal Baltimore experience is dinner and drinks at a chain restaurant.

"I like going to Fogo de Chao and just having a lot of meat and a good margarita. I know the guy there at the bar, and he knows what I like so he takes care of me,” Pie told Sun Magazine.

And that’s why Felix Pie is one thing I love about Baltimore.

Fogo de Chao has 17 locations in the United States and several others in Brazil. I have never dined there, though my fellow sports staffers tell me it is delicious. Sure, Pie may have picked a chain restaurant as the one thing he loved about Baltimore, but at least it wasn’t the Olive Garden, so I’ll give Pie as pass on this one.
