The Anne Arundel County Fire Department on Monday named the woman who died in a July 2 fire in Edgewater.

Linda D. Nolte, 56, was identified by the State Medical Examiner's Office using dental records, according to a statement from Division Chief Michael E. Cox.

Previously, the department identified another victim, Rosella K. Nolte, 84, who suffered life-threatening injuries and continues to be treated at Johns Hopkins Bayview Hospital. Investigators believe the two are mother and daughter.

The fire in the 1300 block of Shore Drive has been attributed to careless smoking. It took more than 30 minutes for 60 firefighters from Anne Arundel County, Annapolis, and the U.S. Naval Academy to bring the fire under control.

No firefighters were injured in the two-alarm incident, which caused an estimated $110,000 in damages. The fire began on a sofa, where the younger woman was found, investigators said.
