Soccer

The SAC Extreme (U-18 girls) is looking for additional players for 2011-12. The team will participate in college showcase tournaments and WAGS spring play. Interested players should email mraffael731@yahoo.com or call 301-957-8809.

Softball

The Maryland Stars girls fastpitch program will hold tryouts Aug. 7, 14 and 21 at Mayeski Park in Sykesville. The Stars have teams at the 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18-U level. Go to http://www.marylandstars.org or call 443-745-3177.

The Maryland Cyclones U-12 fastpitch team is holding tryouts Aug. 10 and 12 from 6-8 p.m. at Good Counsel High School in Olney.

Football

Registration for the Columbia Ravens Football is open for ages 5-14. Go to http://www.columbiaravens.com. In addition, the organization seeks qualified, committed individuals to coach, especially at the Pit Bull (ages 5-6) and 14-U levels. Interested parties should contact the director of football at columbiaravens@gmail.com.

The Maryland Middle School Combine will be held July 30-31 at Mount St. Joseph High School. This middle school exposure camp will be coached by football coaches from the MIAA, WCAC and public high schools. Cost: $30. Go to http://www.middleschoolcombine.com or call 202-270-6712. 

High school football officials and timers are needed in the Washington Metropolitan Area. Anyone who is 18 prior to Sept. 1, 2011 is eligible. No officiating experience is required. Bowling

The Brunswick Columbia Lanes, in cooperation with the Howard County Autism Society, is offering a four week long Family and Friends League for those with special needs. The league starts Sept. 18 at 3 p.m. (an organizational meeting will be held at 2:30). There are two divisions – 6-11 years old and 12 and older — and three people on a team. Baseball

The 2012 Columbia Sun Devils 13-U travel team will hold open tryouts for the 2011-12 season Aug. 21 from 4-6:30 p.m. at Meadowbrook Park field 3. The Professional Baseball Training Summer Camp will be held July 25-29 at Howard High School. The camp is led by Brian Bent, a former Baltimore Oriole Minor League player. The 2012 Savage 10-U travel team will hold open tryouts for players for the Fall 2011/Spring 2012 season Aug. 7 at 2 p.m., Aug. 10 (6 p.m.), Aug. 14 (2 p.m.) and Aug. 17 (6 p.m.). The tryouts will be held at Savage Park. Players must be born on or after May 1, 2001. Attendance at more than one tryout is preferred. Email thelmick@verizon.net.

Basketball

Advanced Skills Basketball Camp for boys age 9-16 will be held at the Meadowbrook Athletic Complex July 25-29. Go to http://www.hcelitebasketball.com.

Dr. Mike Caprarola's All-Star Shooting Clinic is open to boys and girls ages 9-18 and runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The clinic is held at Chapelgate Christian Academy and consists of four one-week sessions running from July 18 through Aug. 14.
