Baltimore County police are investigating a series of arsons that resulted in nearly $50,000 in damage, destroying several cars, sheds and the roof of a business in Edgemere Sunday.

Firefighters were first called at 3:57 a.m. to an apartment building in the 2600 block of Sparrows Point Road after a resident heard a popping noise outside his apartment and saw smoke and flames at the rear of the building, police said.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported, police said, but several other fires were reported nearby. Firefighters extinguished flames at two sheds to the rear of the Shkor Service and Repair station, where the blaze spread to the shop's roof.

Another fire was discovered in the 2500 block of Sparrows Point Road, and a 911 caller reported seeing a vehicle on fire two blocks away in the 2600 block of Manor Avenue. A 2005 Kia Sorrento and 1998 Ford Windstar sustained significant fire and smoke damage, police said.

A third vehicle fire was reported by another 911 caller reported at about 10 a.m., in the 2500 block of Steel Avenue, police said. A 2007 BMW 328i was destroyed by the fire and smoke damage.

Police have no suspect information at this time.

Anyone with information is asked to call Baltimore County Police at 410-307-2020.
