Sandra Rachel Pauline Schmuhl and Christopher Douglas Long were married April 30. The bride is the daughter of Susan Compton-Maddox, of Darnestown, and the late Karl Schmuhl. The groom is the son of Douglas and Carole Long, of Laurel. The ceremony was officiated by Nancy Montagna, adjunct leader with the Washington Ethical Society.

The ceremony and reception were held at Mrs. K's Toll House in Silver Spring. The bride was escorted down the aisle by her mother and her aunt, Sandra Campbell, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va. The bride's attendants were maid of honor Victoria Vance and Kerry Jones Waring. The groomsmen were best man Alex Dzwonchyk and Mark Beckhardt.

The bride received a Master of Fine Arts in fiction writing from Columbia University and is currently employed as an editorial assistant for the American Association for Justice. The groom graduated from the Omega School of Recording Arts and Technology and is an audio engineer for Capitol Media Systems.
