Slots play at the Hollywood Casino Perryville declined in May compared to April, the Maryland Lottery reported Monday.
Gross gaming revenue generated at the casino in Cecil County totaled $9,606,439 in May, down $446,000 from $10.05 million in April.
Since gambling began at Hollywood Casino Perryville in September, the total revenue generated exceeds $73.8 million with the latest full monthly result, the lottery said in a press release.
Gross gaming revenue is roughly about 10 percent of what is gambled on the video lottery machines, whose payout, according to the lottery, runs between 87 to 92 percent of the money gambled.
Out of the total revenue produced by the Perryville casino in May, $528,354 will go into the local impact grant pool which is set by law at 5.5 percent of the take from the casino.
The May local impact share brings the total available to local governments and nonprofits to just more than $4 million since the casino opened.
The Cecil County government and the Perryville town government are continuing to wrangle over how their respective shares of that pie will be divided.
A local board overseeing grant requests from local nonprofits for a portion of this money will begin evaluating applications later this month.
Since Hollywood Casino Perryville opened, gambling activity there has generated $35.6 million for the state education fund, $5.2 million for horse racing purses and $1.8 million for racetrack improvements, according to the latest lottery figures.
Penn National gaming, which operates the Perryville casino, has received $24.4 million to date as its share of the take.
The state's other operating slots casino at Ocean Downs harness racetrack in Berlin in Worcester County, produced gross gaming revenue of $3,687,769, bringing the total revenue from that venue to $16.6 million.
May revenue from Ocean Downs, which opened last winter, was up about $118,000 from April, according to the lottery.
