A 47-year-old man was struck with an ax and shot in the head during a dispute with another man Wednesday night in West Baltimore, according to police.

The incident was reported at 11:56 p.m. in the 2100 block of Chelsea Terrace, in the Mount Holly neighborhood. The victim was taken to an area hospital in critical condition but was expected to survive, police said.

Investigators had made no arrests in the incident.

Police were also investigating the early Thursday shooting of a man in the 2800 block of Winchester St. in West Baltimore.

About 12:30 a.m., officers found a 35-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds in his legs. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Based on their preliminary investigation, police said the man was walking across the street when two men began shooting at each other, striking the victim.
