Community center opens, but is still sweeping up a bit

North Laurel

June 08, 2011

The North Laurel Community Center finally opened, but the work is not done yet. I know we all have been waiting a very long time, but give them just a few more weeks to make sure all the equipment is in place and for them to put all the finishing touching on the center.

The indoor track and basketball courts are finished and tours are available. The fitness center should be complete in a couple of weeks and by the end of the month the health department, senior center and police office should be up and running.

The ball fields will be ready soon and I will try hard to keep you updated on how things are going. You can also contact facility Director Matt Madera anytime with questions or input. He really wants to make this the best community center and enjoys hearing from us. The Center's number is 410-313-0390 and his email is mmadera@howardcountymd.gov.

The address of our community center is 9411 Whiskey Bottom Road. Also, a traffic study will be conducted in the fall on that intersection along Whiskey Bottom Road. Please be careful entering and exiting the site.
