Little Miss Sunshine outlasts Black Magic in Bel Air women's lacrosse league action

Save the Ta-Ta's drops Blue Moon, 8-7

In recent Bel Air Women's Summer Lacrosse League action, Little Miss Sunshine knocked off the Black Magic team 12-6, while Save the Ta-Ta's was able to pull out a narrow 8-7 defeat of the Blue Moon team.

Playing on Thursday afternoon, Little Miss Sunshine used a big first-half offensive push to grab the victory, outscoring the Black Magic squad 7-2 in the opening frame. In the second half, the two squads were a bit more even, with Black Magic posting four goals, while the winners netted five.

Leading the way for the winning side was Julia Schrof, who scored three times and dished out one assist. Marissa Braungart, Kari Ehinger, Morgan Grannas and Brittney Gonzalez all scored twice in the victory, while Kim Eraso helped out Little Miss Sunshine with one goal and one assist.

Brooke Prater was Black Magic's top offensive force, scoring twice and handing out one assist. Carmen Chona tucked away two goals in the loss, while teammates Kristen Russo and Kaylee Litke both scored once.

In goal for Little Miss Sunshine was Brittany MacKnew, who posted two saves. Roxanne Diedrich and Heather Dove split time in the Black Magic net, saving four and two shots, respectively.

One-goal victory for pink squad

In the closest of Thursday's match-ups, Save the Ta-Ta's overcame a two-goal half-time deficit to net an 8-7 win over the Blue Moon team.

The pink-shirted winners scored three times in the opening half, while their opponents put up five tallies. In the second frame, Save the Ta-Ta's turned things around, outscoring Blue Moon 5-2.

Sarah Morris scored three times to record a hat-trick for the winning squad, while Lacy Underhill, Katie Spence, Ashley Pietra, Christina Miller and Katie Rodriguez all had one goal apiece in the victory. The pink squad's lone assist was recorded by Kristen Arseneau.

Blue Moon's top scorer was Nicole Terry, who put up a game-best four goals. Meghan Welch posted one goal and one assist in the loss, while Kelley Duncan and Anna Pollitt each scored once. Danielle Heaps and Kelly Kemper both registered one assist for Blue Moon.

Pink team goalie Brittany MacKnew had a fine showing, saving 11 shots. Alicia McCarty had six saves in the Blue Moon goal, while fellow keeper Erin Dent had three saves in the first half.
