The following Laurel students graduated from St. Mary's College of Maryland with Bachelor of Arts degrees: Damian Smoter, English major; Sean Goerling, computer science major, mathematics minor; Nathan Beall, magna cum laude, major in religious studies; Hillary Powell, major in religious studies; Ernest Rotili, sociology major, philosophy minor; Melissa Graybeal, majors in psychology and biology, minor in neurosciences; and Kristina Schiller, cum laude, psychology major, music minor.

The following Laurel students were named to the dean's list for the spring semester at St. Mary's College of Maryland: Ernest Rotili, Allison Alexander, Nathan Beall, Jessica Clayton, Julie Frank, Mallory Herberger and Thomas Rados.

Alina Kenealy, of Laurel, valedictorian for the class of 2011 at St. Vincent Pallotti High School, won a National Merit Fordham University Scholarship. She will study English.

Rhiannon Aguilar, of Laurel, from Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, is the winner of a National Merit University of Maryland Scholarship. She plans to pursue a career in medicine/science.
