Laurel American Legion elects officers

Lee Luby was elected commander of Laurel American Legion Post 60 May 19.

The Laurel American Legion Post 60 held general elections of officers May 19. Shirley (Lee) Luby, who has been acting commander since former Commander Michael Obremski stepped down in February, was elected commander. She is the second woman to hold this position at Post 60.

George Schaab was elected first vice commander and William (Don) Worsham was elected second vice commander.

Also elected were John (Jack) Ponzetti, chaplain; Morton Marlow, finance officer; James Hitaffer, judge advocate; Chuck Steinberg, historian; and Kirk Birdsong, sergeant at arms.

The House Committee will be appointed by the new commander. Members of the Executive Committee are: Robert (Bobby) Bauman, Steve Thompkins, Don Disharoon, Richard Harding, James (Jim) Watson and Denise Kuboushek.
