Search and rescue recruiting

Maryland Search & Rescue and the Boy Scouts of America Venture Crew 616 will be holding their annual spring recruiting open house from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. June 6 at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, 12430 Scaggsville Road in Highland. Maryland Search & Rescue trains and deploys volunteers in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia and Pennsylvania to participate in wilderness lost-person searches. Participants must be at least 13 years old and have completed eighth grade or be 14 years old. Meetings and training sessions are held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays and typically one weekend a month. Glenwood Senior Center

Glenwood Senior Center, 2400 Route 97, Cooksville, offers the following events. Information: 410-313-5440:

Sittercize The hourlong exercise program includes seated aerobics, stretching and strengthening drills, 1 p.m. Mondays, Wednesday and Fridays. Cost is $36 for 18 classes.

Fit for Life exercises Participants do aerobics, strength training and abdominal work, 8:20 a.m. to 9:20 a.m. Fridays. $45 for 12 classes.

Painting and drawing A painting and drawing open studio will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Wednesdays. Bring your own supplies. Free.

Hatha yoga Classes in this Indian system of physical postures and breathing will be held from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. $45 for eight classes.

Silver Sneakers Walking Club The group is led by a staff member on an indoor track at 8:30 a.m. Mondays-Fridays. Everyone is invited.

Shoot pool Everyone is invited to shoot pool from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays-Fridays.

Senior hoops Hoopsters are welcome at 9 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Survivors meet The Glenwood Senior Center sponsors a stroke survivors' "Reading for Life" group at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 1. Discussion will be led by speech pathologist Jennifer Triandafilou. Cost is $40. Information: 410-313-5440.
