Soccer

Thunder rising U-9 girls will hold supplemental tryouts June 1 and 3 at Alpha Ridge Park from 6:30- p.m. Go to http://www.thundersoccerclub.org, email jsdillon11@gmail.com or call 443-690-0803.

Thunder Soccer Club's rising U-7 and U-8 boys (2003-04 and 2004-05) are holding supplemental tryouts 27th at 6:30-8 p.m. at Alpha Ridge Park. Email at corbett433@gmail.com.

Olney Cyclones have two rising WAGS U-16 teams for fall 2011-spring 2012 (White D-2 and Blue D-5). The Cyclones are looking for impact goalie/field players. Tryouts are 5-6:30 p.m. in Olney as follows May 31 (field 2), June 1 (field 3), June 2 (field 3), June 7 (field 2), June 8 (field 3) and June 9 (field 3). Call 301-252-7893.

The Bays Sharks (U-13 girls) will hold tryouts for their Blue and White teams May 24, 27 and 27. This is a Howard-County based team. Call 301-442-3620.

The Soccer Association of Columbia U-13 Girls Premier is looking for committed and dedicated soccer players. Email chris.goodman@completegamesoccer.com to attend a training session prior to tryouts, which are June 3, 6 and 7.

The Dutch Soccer School is holding full day camps in Howard County (Covenant Park and Glenelg Country School). There are also residential camps in Owings Mills. Go to http://www.DutchSoccerSchool.com.

Lacrosse

The Mt. Hebron Girls Lacrosse Evening Camp will be held June 13-17 from 5-8 p.m. at Mt. Hebron. The camp is for all skill levels and grades 1 through 8. Registration forms are at http://www.mthebrongirlslax.com. Click on the camp link.

Centennial High School will hold a boys lacrosse camp, for middle and elementary school boys, will be held from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m., June 26-30 and July 5-8. E-mail wmichael@hcpss.org or call 410-730-1407.

Running

The Remembrance Run 5k and one-mile family walk will be held May 30 in the Columbia Gateway Business Park. The 5k starts at 8 a.m.; the one-mile walk at 8:05. Cash prizes to the top finishers. Registration: $25 (runner, May 20-29), $30 (runner, race day), $10 (walker, without shirt), $20 (walker, with shirt). Register at Feet First in Hickory Ridge anytime. Elkridge Elementary School's ELKSTER 5k will be held June 11 at the school. The race starts at 8 a.m. Email EESPTA@hotmail.com for more information. Register online at http://www.charmcityrun.com. All proceeds from the race benefit EES PTA-programs.

On Father's Day, June 19, there will be the Father's Day 8k at 8 a.m. starting at the Columbia Costco in the Gateway Overlook Shopping Center. Sports physicals

Kernan Sports Medicine is offering high school sports physicals the following times:

June 12, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Kernan Physical Therapy in Woodlawn. Register by June 8.

July 17, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Central Maryland Rehab in Columbia. Register by July 13.

July 31, 8 a.m.-12:30 p.m., at Central Maryland Rehab in Columbia. Register by July 23.

Call 410-298-0990 ext. 15 to speak to a certified athletic trainer to set up an appointment. Walk-ins are not accepted. Cost: $30 per athlete for completion of the Kernan Sports Medicine physical form. There is an added $5 for each additional form.

Golf

The Atholton Athletic Boosters golf outing is June 17 at 1 p.m. at the Fairway Hills Golf Club. Cost: $100/per golfer (includes drinks, snacks, dinner and gifts). Email atholtonfitnesscenter@gmail.com or go to http://www.atholtonboosters.org.

Basketball

The Julius Prezelski Basketball School will be held July 25-28 at Resurrection School in Ellicott City. The camp is for boys and girls entering grades three through eight this fall. The camp runs from 9 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Go to http://www.jphoops.com.

The Reservoir Boosters boys basketball camp will be held Aug. 1-5 from 9 a.m. to noon at Reservoir High School. This camp is for rising sixth to ninth grade boys. A boys and girls youth basketball camp is be held the same week from 1-4 p.m. This camp is for rising second to fifth grade boys and girls. Both camps will be run by the Reservoir Basketball coaching staff.

Baseball

Sports programs

The Laurel Boys and Girls Club is offering the following summer and fall programs – soccer ($50), tackle football ($75), cheerleading ($75), kiddie basketball ($75), high school development ($50), TreePlum summer art ($200 for four-week program (July 5-28)). Cross country

The Friday Night Striders cross country series will be held Friday nights July 8, 22, 29 and Aug. 12 at different high schools. A fifth night will be confirmed later. Cost: $5 per race; run three of the five races and receive a Striders' performance shirt.
