'Chicago'

Silhouette Stages presents this Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Friday, May 27, through June 5 at Slayton House, 10400 Crossfox Lane. Show times are 8 p.m. Fridays Saturdays, with a 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. performance Sundays. Tickets are $18, $15 for seniors and students. Tickets are available at Seatyourself.biz/silhouettestages or at the door. For each person attending a performance on Saturday, May 28, a $2 donation will be made to Wounded Warriors.

Benefit concert

The Musicians of Mercy presents a benefit concert for earthquake relief in Japan at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 25, at Christ Episcopal Church, 6800 Oakland Mills Road. Admission is free but donations are welcome. Proceeds will be sent to World Vision: Japan Quake and Tsunami Relief Fund. Information: musiciansofmercy@gmail.com.

Art exhibit

The Columbia Art Center Galleries presents "Art Reinvention: Art Created with Raw, Organic, Found or Recycled Materials," June 9-26 at 6100 Foreland Garth. A reception and gallery talk will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. June 21. Show features two and three-dimensional works by various artists. Afternoon tea

The Town Center Community Association offers Afternoon Tea from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday May 26, at Historic Oakland, 5430 Vantage Point Road. Tea, which is catered by "Sweet Simplici-Tea," will be served along with sandwiches, desserts, and warm scones in the manor's ballroom. Cost is $22 per person. Master class

Nathan Rosen of Slayton House Conservatory offers a master class from June 27 through July 8 at Slayton House, 10400 Cross Fox Lane. The class features workshops presented by local actor and teacher Bruce Nelson, along with Ric Ryder, Broadway singer, actor and voice coach. The program is designed to prepare students for a professional audition. Additional workshops in dance and other theater-related areas will be offered. 'Oriental Influences'

Exhibit by clay artist Winnie Coggins and photographer Jerry Weinstein is on view through Friday, May 27, at Artists' Gallery, American City Building, 10227 Wincopin Circle in Columbia. Wine festival

"Wine in the Woods" will be held from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 22, rain or shine, at Symphony Woods in Columbia. There will be live music, arts and crafts, a wine seminar and more. Printmaking class

The Columbia Art Center offers "Alternative Printmaking" from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays, through June 16, at the Columbia Art Center, 6100 Foreland Garth. Printmaking artists and instructors Janice Crum and Emily Michael will teach methods of printmaking using nontoxic and recycled supplies. The class is for ages 17 and older; no experience required. English conversation The Howard County Public Library, 10375 Little Patuxent Parkway, offers "Let's Get Together: English Conversation Club." It's a chance for those for whom English is a second language to practice speaking and understanding English in a group setting. The club meets at 9:30 a.m. Mondays and 7:30 p.m. Thursdays.
