Your turn: Predict Sun sports headlines 174 years from now

May 17, 2011|By Matt Vensel

Today is The Baltimore Sun's 174th birthday. I'm pretty sure that when the newspaper was created, the only sports that existed were horse racing, wrestling and outrunning packs of wild dogs. Flash forward to 2011 and we now have the Ravens, the Orioles and the Terps around to fill our sports section, and we're thankful for that.

So instead of looking back on the past 174 years -- we already did that here -- let's look ahead to 174 years from now and try to think of sports stories The Sun will be covering from now until 2185.

Here's a good example of a future Baltimore sports headline from my boss, Pete Sweigard, who chimed in on Twitter: "Ravens owner moves team to Indianapolis in Mayflower hovercrafts."

Your turn: What sports stories will The Baltimore Sun be covering in the next 174 years?
