A 66-year-old Glen Burnie man suffered fatal injuries when the car he was driving struck a tree Saturday evening, Anne Arundel County police said.

Herbert Leroy Brandford of the 200 block of Scott Ave. was driving a 1977 Chevrolet Corvette just before 7 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree near his home, close to the intersection of Scott Avenue and Cooper Road, police said.

Brandford was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, then Maryland Shock Trauma Center, where he died.

A juvenile passenger in the car was uninjured, police said.
