May 08, 2011|By Jeff Zrebiec, The Baltimore Sun

With Monday's day off, the Orioles have the option of skipping struggling right-hander Chris Tillman's turn in the rotation, but Showalter said they probably won't. Jake Arrieta, Tillman and Zach Britton are scheduled for the three-game series against the Mariners. … Third baseman Mark Reynolds walked in five of his 11 plate appearances in the series. … Reliever Michael Gonzalez pitched his fifth straight scoreless outing, a span in which he has allowed just three hits and no walks while striking out seven in 51/3 innings. … Upton, who was allowed to play in the series after he appealed his two-game suspension, went 7-for-14 with three doubles, a homer and eight RBIs in the series. He drove in more runs in the series than the Orioles scored. … Rays third baseman Evan Longoria went 5-for-12 with two doubles, a homer and five RBIs in the series. … Several of the Orioles wore pink cleats and pink wristbands and used pink bats to commemorate Mother's Day and promote breast cancer awareness.
