Workshop

Behavioral expert, author and radio host Kirk Martin, along with his teenage son, Casey, will share 10 secrets to stop defiance and power struggles with your kids from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, May 9 at the Homewood School, 10914 Route 108, Ellicott City. Theater

The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company presents "A Midsummer Night's Dream" and "The Complete Works of William Shakespeare" June 10-July 24 at Patapsco Female Institute Historic Park, 3691 Sarah's Lane in Ellicott City. Choral concerts

The Alleluias, an interdenominational Christian choral group, performs its final concerts of the season at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 15 at Grace Episcopal Church, 5787 Elkridge Heights Road in Elkridge and at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 22 at Howard County Historical Society, 8328 Court Avenue in Ellicott City. Youth dance

The Elkridge Volunteer Fire Department's Junior Firefighters sponsors a "Luau" youth dance from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 21, for ages 9-15 at the firehouse, 6275 Old Washington Road. Yard sale

Summer camps

Glen Mar United Methodist Church, 4701 New Cut Road, will hold weekly summer day camp sessions June 27 through Aug. 5 for children entering kindergarten through sixth grade. Full-day and half-time sessions are available. Costs range from $145 to $225 per week. $50 deposit is required for each camp at time of registration; balance is due by June 1. Each participating sibling will receive a 5 percent discount. Sessions include "Pioneer Outdoor Camp"; "Mix It Up Camp"; "What's Cooking?"; "Summer Fun and Games"; "Lights, Camera, Action"; "Celebrate"; and "Talent Camp."
