Towson rallies, edges Terps in 11th, 3-2

Austin Harclerode (Centennial) homered to left on the first pitch in the bottom of the 11th inning to give Towson (22-21-1) a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Maryland (20-29) on Wednesday.

In another game, host UMBC (7-30) used a three-run first inning to spark a 4-3 win over Georgetown (20-27).

Honors: Frostburg State senior pitcher Greg Ross (Loch Raven) was named Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year. Salisbury freshman center fielder Bill Root was selected as Rookie of the Year, and Frostburg's Guy Robertson was chosen Coach of the Year.

Joining Ross and Root on the All-CAC first team were Frostburg senior second baseman Matt Greene (South Carroll); Salisbury senior third baseman Brian Green, senior pitcher Chris Greiner (Mount St. Joseph) and senior pitcher Dustin Herbert; and Wesley junior pitcher D.J. Keckler (Fallston).

The second team included Frostburg junior first baseman Doug Anuszewski (Liberty), senior pitcher Josh Davis (Hereford) and junior catcher Garrett Price (Liberty); St. Mary's senior second baseman and sophomore shortstop Corey Napier; Salisbury senior pitcher Drew Baldwin, junior catcher Tyler Bennett and senior pitcher Nathan Young; and junior first baseman Justin Anderson (Calvert Hall).
