War must continue against Bin Laden followers, not Islam

May 04, 2011

As a member of the American Ahmadiyya Muslim community, I am relieved over the news of Osama bin Laden's death and congratulate my fellow Americans on this accomplishment in the war against terrorism. However, this war is far from over. President Obama rightly stated: "Our war is not with Islam." Neither the Quran or Prophet Muhammad's life support these inhumane ideologies.

I urge my fellow Muslim-Americans to strongly reject and denounce the perverse un-Islamic ideologies that promote violence and terrorism. To be truly victorious, we must forcefully advocate the true peaceful teachings of Islam like "no compulsion in religion" and "loyalty to one's homeland."
