Baltimore Insider launches

May 04, 2011|By Laura Vozzella

I’ve been writing a column for The Sun for five and a half years, long enough to get into plenty of trouble.

Within the first month, I’d offended an entire town by suggesting that, by installing an inflatable Halloween display in front of the governor’s mansion, then-Gov. Bob Ehrlich had brought an Arbutian aesthetic to old Annapolis.

Two years later, a visiting priest denounced me from the pulpit of my own church for a column about out-of-town bishops downing $55-a-bottle vino at Cinghiale.

I’d like to take this opportunity to say I’m sorry to Arbutus, whose residents I’ve come to know and love. To the bishops, I’ll say only that I hope you enjoyed the wine.

And to any faithful readers out there — Mom? Dad? — I’d like to let you know that my column is about to be rejiggered.

The name is changing. Again. What started as 2B (back when the paper had a B section and the column ran on page 2) and then became The Talk is hereby “rebranded” Baltimore Insider. It will continue to run in the paper on Thursdays and will start appearing online as the Baltimore Insider blog.

The column and blog will offer the same mix of political gossip and offbeat Baltimore goings-on I’ve been chronicling all along, so please keep the tips, and the trouble, coming.
