Cinco de Mayo recipes: Strawberry margaritas

Strawberry margarita

Serves 1

This is my version of the margarita. It’s like a margarita got stilettos.

1 oz tequila blanco
1 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
Splash of lemon-lime simple syrup (see recipe below)
1 C strawberries and 1 C ice

Combine all ingredients together in blender and blend until smooth. This recipe is a little light on the tequila, as I have some tequila horror stories I’m still living down. Feel free to ramp it up if you’re of stronger stock.

 

Lemon-lime simple syrup

3 strips lime peel

3 strips lemon peel

1 C white granulated sugar

1 C filtered water

 

Combine the above ingredients in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir occasionally. Cook until sugar dissolves completely. Remove from heat, cool, and use in mixed drinks, iced tea, or lemonade.
