Boys Athlete of the Week: T.J. Pipik, Reservoir, baseball

The senior had a memorable week. He began by pitching a perfect game against Hammond for a 10-0 victory April 11. He struck out nine, drove in five runs and scored four more with two home runs and a double. Thursday in an extra-inning 6-1 win over Marriotts Ridge, while playing shortstop he went 2-for-5 with a 3-run home run in the ninth. And on Friday, he wrapped up the week with a complete, seven-inning pitching performance in which he allowed just one run against then-No. 5 Atholton in a 2-1 victory. The week's totals on the mound: 12 innings, five hits, one run, one walk, 13 K, two complete games (one of them perfect); at the plate: 6-for-11, five runs, eight RBIs, one double, three home runs, two walks and three stolen bases. Pipik is 5-0 with a 0.51 ERA and batting .393. He will attend Catonsville Community College on a baseball scholarship next season.
