School Lunch Showdown

It has been on the agenda of First Lady, Michelle Obama, star chef, Jamie Oliver (whose show "Food Revolution" airs today on ABC) and organizations like Slow Food USA. Just what do we do about school lunches in America?

Do you remember your school lunch from years ago? Thinking about it makes me cringe. I mean, was it food? I was one of the nerdy kids who opted to bring my lunch to school everyday. I always had the sneaking suspicion that what was on my Styrofoam plate was not necessarily the best food in the world.

So what else is being offered around the world? A friend of mine just sent me this link that shows in pictures what school lunch looks like from several different countries around the world. It’s interesting to see how we stack up next to other countries. In France, kids are eating mussels and artichokes. In Japan, rice and fish.

What do you think about school lunches in America? What would you change? Post a comment, write me jasmine@bthesite.com, or tweet me.
