Over the past week or so, Orioles fans haven't had much to smile about -- you know, fun things like wins, runs and quality starts. But with the Orioles stuck in a seven-game losing streak, here's something that might cheer you up, at least for a few seconds.
Manny Machado, the organization's top minor-league prospect, is tearing it up in Single-A Delmarva this spring.
The Orioles' shortstop of the future is batting .361 in 45 plate appearances over 10 games with the Shorebirds. Machado has three doubles and a triple and has knocked in six runs. And he has a .467 on-base percentage and a .500 slugging percentage.
