Some postal rates going up April 17

Starting next week, it will cost a little more to tell people back home about your vacation, but not to pay your bills.

Thanks to ConsumerWorld.org for this heads up: The price of a regular first-class stamp will remain at 44 cents, but postal rates for postcards will increase a penny to 29 cents on April 17, according to the U.S. Postal Service.

It will also cost more to send additional ounces via first-class mail or to send mail to Canada or Mexico --- stamp prices will increase to 80 cents. However, postage for other international mail will not increase from its current price of 98 cents.
