Unleash your inner Tiger (Woods). If you haven't had enough golf this weekend with the Masters, head north to Pennsylvania. The Pocono Mountains are kicking off spring and the 2011 golf season with specials from more than 35 regional golf courses.

The plan: The Poconos are less than a four-hour drive from Baltimore, making it an easy destination for a weekend trip. Golf resorts in the area have been designed by names that rank among the best in the game, including Donald Ross and Art Wall Jr.

Whether pros or just playing for fun, golfers can customize their trip by choosing courses, accommodations and activities that appeal to them. From lush courses and resorts to local festivals and shopping, the Poconos offer an array of attractions to fit any itinerary.

Among the venues offering stay-and-play rates around or below $100 are the Shawnee Inn and Golf Resort ( and the Fernwood Hotel and Resort (

The Shawnee celebrates its 100th anniversary and is home to A.W. Tillinghast's first American design. Guests can enjoy a round of free golf with cart and one-night accommodations — including breakfast — at special rates through April 28. Midweek rates start at $106 per person, based on double occupancy.

The Fernwood offers guests two nights' accommodations and two rounds of golf starting at $138 a person through June 2. (One night starts at $69 per person.)

While you're there, explore the region's many attractions and activities including hiking, biking, spas, horseback riding, local festivals, bed-and-breakfasts, antiques shops and two NASCAR races held annually.

The details: A variety of special offers and packages will be available from April to June.
