Roundup: No. 1 John Carroll beats No. 3 Gilman in baseball, 9-8 in 10 innings

The top-ranked John Carroll boys baseball team scored twice in the bottom of the ninth inning to tie the score and then got a run in the bottom of the 10th to win, 9-8, over No. 3 Gilman on Monday afternoon.

The Greyhounds scored three runs in the top of the fifth to tie the game at 6, then scored two more in the top of the ninth to go ahead.

K.J. Hockaday went 2-for-3 with a double, a home run, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Patriots.

No. 13 Digital Harbor 14, Patterson 3: Alex Welch struck out 10 and Nathan Pitts was 3-for-3 with five RBIs as the Rams beat the Clippers.

No. 14 Severn 10, Glenelg 0: Joe Kotler gave up only two hits in picking up his fifth win of the year for the Admirals.

Ryan Boulier was 2-for-2 and scored three runs.


No. 1 Chesapeake-AA 26, Annapolis 0: Megan Hyson struck out all nine batters she faced and went 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI as the top-ranked Cougars shut out the Panthers.

Erin Van Dyke added a double and five RBIs for Chesapeake.

Tessa Fowler had the lone hit for Annapolis.

No. 4 Howard 14, Long Reach 0: Kensey O'Neil struck out nine and allowed one hit and no runs in pitching the Lions past the Lightning.
