The Baltimore Charm of the Lingerie Football League will hold open tryouts on Saturday at the Frederick Indoor Sports Center. Tryouts begin at 8 a.m. and will last until about 11 a.m.
The football combine tryouts will test Baltimore female athletes in various football drills, including shuttles, 40-yard dash, read and recognition and various football challenges including tackling, receiving and passing. Athletes will also go through a psychological interview.
"Our rookie hopefuls this season will go through a battery of drills in a no-nonsense approach. If we are to continue to be taken seriously as a legitimate football product and our ladies as gridiron athletes, we have to continue to develop our play on-the-field," said Mitchell S. Mortaza, founder and chairman of the Lingerie Football League. "Expect an even more intense game played by a more advanced LFL athlete in 2011."
For the 40 athletes who make the cut at the Charm open tryout, they will be invited to compete at a minicamp in April. If they last beyond minicamp, they will be among 30 players invited to training camp to compete for the final roster of 20 players.

The Charm, which went 1-3 in the 10-team league last season, is scheduled to host their home opener at First Mariner Arena on Oct. 22.
The Frederick Indoor Sports Center is located at 1845 Brookfield Court.
